What have you done for me lately?
If you are novel with repeater movement, you might think that repeaters are "bung and play," or that you put one on the air that all of the travail is done. Not so. A repeater holder or trustee will fritter away countless hours testing his repeater for coverage, accurate tuning, and audio. And this of sure doesn't figure up, heaven interdict, if it goes off the air.
Sometimes, I equitable pay "common calls" at the sites where my repeaters are, but more often than not, I most of the time give the repeater a full discontinuity up when I visit a area. What parameters would one contain on his repeater to metamorphose sure it is functioning at its full capability? Well, here's some parameters; I'll try to give each one of these some review in the future. On the receiver side: Feeling, selectivity, modulation acceptance bandwidth, Typhoid Mary frequency, IF frequency, audio-productivity symmetry. On the transmitter side: Power create, spectral cleanness, deviation, carter frequency, modulation regularity. Precise to repeater G-man: desensitization ("desense"), repeat audio stage straight, time-out timer, humiliated timer, and possessions sensitivity. It is not predetermined to check all of these parameters every moment you go to the site, but all of these have some supporting on how well a repeater operates.
